Samhain is the ancient Celtic festival marking the end of the growing season and the beginning of the darker half of the year. Vegetation is dying back with killing frosts, and death is in the air. Samhain’s long association with death and the Dead reflects Nature’s rhythms. This contributes to the ancient notion that at Samhain, the veil is thinnest between the world of the living and the realm of the Dead.
For those who have lost loved ones in the past year, Samhain rituals can be an opportunity to bring closure to grieving and to further adjust to their being in the Otherworld by spiritually communing with them. We will above all be honoring and recognizing our beloved departed from this past year.
