The CIRA (Center for Immigrant and Refugee Advancement) is organizing a special summer camp for refugee youth and families from August 5th – 7th. The camp will serve unaccompanied minors and refugee families, providing a safe and welcoming space for them to connect, learn, and have fun. So far, 81 youth and 15 adults are signed up to attend! For many of them, this will be their very first camp experience.
To support this effort, JoAnne and Dorothy are organizing a team to prepare sack lunches for the children attending the camp. These lunches will include.
- A sandwich (some with lunch meat, some vegetarian for Halal families)
- A piece of fruit
- A bag of chips
- A granola bar
- A dessert
- A juice box
We will assemble the lunches as a group at church and store them in coolers until delivery. Lunches will be packed on August 5th (time to be determined).
How You Can Help:
- Donate Towards Food Costs – We are asking for donations to help cover the cost of food. Look for the donation box in the coffee area at church. Or write a check to the church with “CIRA” or “CAMP” in the memo line.
- Volunteer to Help Pack Lunches – If you’d like to help pack lunches on August 5th, please contact the church office at info@2uomaha.org
By supporting this project and CIRA’s work, you’re doing more than providing a meal -you’re offering hope, dignity, and a warm welcome to those starting over in a new land.
