What Do We Make of the Mystery?

Through the ages, humanity has told many colorful stories to explain the mysteries of the cosmos. Some people still believe the stories told by our ancestors and take them as literal truth. Some see them as stories that hold a symbolic truth. What do we do as science continues to unravel the mysteries and push the frontier of human knowledge into the future. As Unitarian Universalists, we consider the growing body of scientific knowledge to be one of our six sources. Does believing in the power of the scientific method leave room for a higher power or a god or gods? How do we reconcile scientific discovery with the old stories so many of us hold dear?
