Water Communion

As the summer draws to a close and folks return from vacation adventures and time in the sun, we at 2nd Unitarian Church of Omaha prepare for our ingathering service and the ceremony of Water Communion.

All are invited to bring a bottle of water for the service. It can be from somewhere you went on vacation or straight out of the kitchen sink. We know all water is connected and in that connection we find and share the source of life as we commune with that which all life shares in common.

As you consider from where you will source your water or reflect on the bottle from your adventures waiting on your shelf, I invite you to reflect on the common lineage and humble character of this most essential of elements. The power to wash away, to purify, to transform, to grant life. May we need the many lessons of the water we share in common as we tend to this common world, so thirsty for love, so ready for change.

May all that is our life be as living water in the desert of the real.
