With some notable exceptions, Light appears time and again throughout the scriptures of world religions. Ancient and modern, an expansive religious symbol, a literal force of nature in its own right, light, fire, and warmth remain obviously critical to the continuation of life as we know it. Is it any small wonder they would receive such a universally exalted status?
Join us this Sunday as we explore the spiritual significance of light and some of its manifestations throughout history, marking the beginning of our friends in the Hindu community’s celebration of Diwali, and considering for ourselves what a spiritual concept of light could mean in an age of troubles. We will also be growing our own light this Sunday, welcoming in new members to our congregation.
