In a time when our democracy is in trouble, the news can bring about feelings of anger, anxiety, hopelessness, and despair. The importance of the approaching midterm election combined with a inbox full of pleas for campaign contributions may feel like the weight of the world on our shoulders. It may feel like nothing we can do can match the urgency of the moment. So, how do we cope? How do we take care of our mental health and wellness. This week’s sermon will address how declining democracy affects our mental health and how, in turn, the mental health of a nation affects our democracy. We’ll talk about some strategies for coping and finding hope during this difficult times.
