August 23rd is the International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and its Abolition; a time designated by UNESCO to reflect upon the ramifications of the great sin of slavery and remember the heroic struggle that won it’s end, particularly that struggle fought in Haiti and it’s successful overthrow of chattel slavery.
