It is abundantly clear that we live in an age of dire unfairness, deep pain, and seemingly intractable division. From whence does one draw the resolve to meet even a moment in a world such as this? How might we carry a grief that seems to deepen by the day while still elevating and expanding the common good and the cause of justice?
This Sunday, let us seek such a source that we may tend to some of the pains of the world – that felt within and that felt without – making room enough for an undiminished, sustaining faith in future worlds of fairness, far away as they may feel. Let us keep on moving forward.
