Transformation & The Heroine’s Journey
A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, a girl was left on a desert planet, signifying that she was not worth keeping. Rey’s story is less a tale of light-sabers or the fate of the galaxy, and perhaps more about what happens when the self we built to survive stops being enough, and the long struggle and surrender toward discovering who we actually are.
What is the self you built to survive? And what might be waiting underneath it? Drawing on the mythic framework of the Heroine’s Journey, Sumerian Mythology, and the wisdom of Richard Rohr, this May 4th eve we will explore the story of Rey from Star Wars as a lens for exploring descent, transformation, and the return to the self that was always already there. No knowledge of Star Wars required, though Star Wars costumes are welcome!
We will also be celebrating new members joining our growing community!
