Share the Plate September & October 2025 – Inclusive Communities

Every month Second Unitarian donates half of our offering to a local non-profit. Our partner for September-October is Inclusive Communities.

Inclusive Communities mission is to confront prejudice, bigotry, and discrimination. It envisions a society that is strengthened by diversity, inclusion, respect, equity, and justice for all people. “Through our powerful human relations work, we are providing education and advocacy related to the topics of diversity and inclusion.”

Inclusive Communities philosophy is to meet people where they are and give them the tools to act. Its programming offers various ways that folks can Affirm, Confront, and Transform to make inclusive changes at the individual, peer group/community, and system levels. It provides programs to businesses, educational institutions, government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and community and faith groups. With its various Table Talks, Inclusive Communities offers everyone a space to build community through dialogue. The intent of our Table Talks are to bring together community members and a panel of individuals who can offer their expertise or share their lived experiences to raise awareness and deepen understanding.

Since 2013 one of the most loved programs was Omaha Table Talks. Through this program Inclusive Communities offered everyone a space to build community through dialogue. Unfortunately, because of funding cuts due to the new Administration, Inclusive Communities has had to pause the Table Talk program.

On May 23, 2023, Rev. Juniper Meadows and Ferial Pearson participated in an Inclusive Communities Table Talk panel discussion “Faith and the Queer Community” at the UNO Community Engagement Center. Click here to watch on Youtube.

Social Justice is the heart of our church, and every day, UUs show up. Please give generously to 2U’s Share the Plate offering to support Inclusive Communities and our church. Mail checks to 2U at 3012 S. 119th Street, Omaha. Put “Share the Plate” in the memo line. OR try our online giving.
