Every month, Second Unitarian shares 1/2 of our offering with a local non-profit. Our share the Plate for September and October is the Omaha Chapter of the National Federation of the Blind (NFB). The NFB promotes equality, security, and opportunity for the Blind and strives to change the prevailing negative mindset of the human potential to live with blindness.
NFB offers special services for our fellow visually impaired and totally blind citizens; counsel with the newly blind, short term financial supports, transportation, etc. NFB also gives out financial educational scholarships, engages with the government to inform them of the impact on the Blind of legislation, and works in the community to educate the public on matters that affect the Blind; we are aware that we are role models and we stride to change the prevailing negative mindset of the human potential to live with blindness.
Social Justice is the heart of our church, and every day, UUs show up. Please give generously to 2U’s Share the Plate offering to support NFB and our church. Mail checks to 2U at 3012 S. 119th Street, Omaha. Put “Share the Plate” in the memo line. OR try our online giving.
