Share the Plate for May and June – Omaha Permaculture

Every month Second Unitarian donates one half of our offering to a local non-profit organization. Our Share the Plate partner for May and June is Omaha Permaculture.

Omaha Permaculture is focused on modeling permaculture practices in urban environments. Their work impacts communities big and small: microbial communities that reside in the soil we remediate in our gardens; animal and plant communities that thrive thanks to our support of biodiversity in the city; and human communities that come together to learn and grow from the land we care take.

Omaha Permaculture is dedicated to revitalizing dilapidated vacant properties throughout Omaha.

With 17 properties demonstrating permaculture in action, they bring environmental education into our neighborhoods via citizen science initiatives; landscape job training for at-risk youth and disenfranchised communities; community gardening opportunities for New Americans and neighborhood residents; and public workshops and gatherings. Omaha Permacultures believe in learning from the land in order to sustain families and communities.

Please give generously to 2U’s Share the Plate offering to support Omaha Permaculture and our church. Mail checks to 2U at 3012 S. 119th Street, 68144. Put “Share the Plate” in the memo line. OR try our online giving by clicking here.
