Share the Plate for January and February is Food Bank for the Heartland

Every month Second Unitarian donates one half of our offering to a local non-profit organization. One half of Second Unitarian’s offering received in January and February will go to the Food Bank for the Heartland. Food Bank for the Heartland distributes food to 544 food pantries, schools, emergency shelters and other nonprofit partners. They are the largest food bank in Nebraska and Iowa, serving 93 counties in the two-state region. For every dollar they receive, they can provide four meals. 96% of the donations received go directly to their mission work. Food Bank for the Heartland operates its own programs that serve vulnerable populations directly, including: Kids Cafe, Back Pack, Mobile Pantry and SNAP. As the number of hungry children, families and seniors increases, these programs expand to meet the growing need.
