July 4 Music Service

Hello Omaha UU’s and friends. We are bringing back 2U’s popular Summer Music Service, this year as a joint service with 1st U and all online over Zoom. Our theme for this year is Celebrating Music and Music’s Spiritual Power and the service will be Sunday, July 4th.

“We are looking for performers willing to record pieces. As this is a music service and not an independence day service, the only guideline is please no patriotic songs, though we do also encourage people to select pieces from the hymnals so that people can sing along at home. We have tech-savvy people ready to help performers record if they don’t have the equipment or expertise. We will be following all safety precautions while doing so, including maintaining minimum distances and wearing masks.

“We are also collecting names of people interested in ordering copies of the two UU hymnals to have at home. During the quarantine we have discovered that these books are valuable resources for planning and participating in online services, and while we hope that the quarantine will end soon, we will still continue to offer our services online as well. If we can order ten or more of either of the Singing the Journey hymnals, the price for them drops by 10% The prices are as follows:

Singing the Living Tradition (hardcover hymnal)- $34

Singing the Living Tradition Large Print (hardcover, two volumes)- $50

Singing the Journey (paperback hymnal)- $20

Singing the Journey Large Print (paperback)- $30

If you are interested in either performing a piece or ordering hymnals, please email Wesley Morrison-Sloat.
