At last week’s UUA General Assembly delegates selected one issue from the applications submitted by UU congregations. Study/Action means that each congregation will research and discuss the selected issue in 2025-26. Then in 2026-27 congregations will participate in writing a Statement of Conscience. The statement is the UU position on the issue. Delegates to 2027 General Assembly will vote whether to accept the statement’s wording.
Issue choices this year: Transformation of Incarceration System; Housing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion; Fat Liberation: Building Justice and Inclusion for Larger Bodies. Second Unitarian’s delegates were guided by feedback from our Annual Meeting in May.
After 2 rounds of ranked votes from 1,326 delegates, Transformation of Incarceration won 59% (788 votes).
