Cleaning Supplies For Somali Families

The Social Justice Committee is collaborating with the Human Needs Committee of St. Pius Catholic to address a request for cleaning supplies for Somali families to deal with COVID-19. There are about 20 families that have an immediate need for cleaning supplies such as soap, disinfectant, and other items. The East African Development Association of Nebraska has asked for supplies as opposed to money, so our request to you is for donations to purchase these supplies. We will create cleaning kits for each family.

The Association would love to have us visit to see their work, especially on Sunday afternoons from 2:30 pm – 7:30 pm, but we understand that the pandemic limits our flexibility for these kinds of visits right now. In the meantime, we will continue to build the relationship with this religious community. The Association is located in the mosque at 47th & NW Radial in Omaha and serves the refugee members of the mosque as well as other refugees.

If you are able to help, please send a donation to Second Unitarian with a “Somali” notation in the memo line of your check.

If you donate online, choose the General Gift and note that it is for the “Somali” effort.

Our donations will go into the pass through account and we’ll share the costs with St. Pius.
