OTOC (Omaha Together One Community) is offering training for making Omaha a better place to live. These sessions are preparation for the 3-day training in Des Moines, but are also applicable as stand-alone training. Training is at Augustana Lutheran Church, 38th and Lafayette. Schedule:
Monday, June 8, 7 p.m. ABCs of Community Organizing — universal concepts, definitions, examples of successes in Omaha, action is in the reaction, doing the right thing for the wrong reasons
Monday, July 13, 7 p.m. A deeper look at the top three participant-selected topics from June 8 Monday, August 10: What we learned in Des Moines, how can we apply it in Omaha?
Learn about six of the “universal” ideas and practices of community organizing. Hear from experienced leaders about how and why they have practiced disciplines such as “The Iron Rule” of organizing and principles such as “the action is in the reaction.” Learn how to work effectively for the common good in our congregation and community.
