Every month Second Unitarian donates half of our offering to a local non-profit. Our partner for March and April is Omaha For Us.
Omaha For Us is an LGBTQ+ community center dedicated to building intentional community and creating equitable space in service to LGBTQ+ individuals & families of eastern Nebraska and western Iowa. In 2023, they opened a new physical location that provides a variety of services to the community. Trans Stitching is a clothing closet available to people unable to afford clothing that aligns with their gender identity. The Pride Pantry provides food and hygiene items to LGBTQ+ individuals and families who cannot safely or comfortably access those items because of their identity. Support groups, mental health care, and STI testing are also hosted at the center. They have graciously provided a tour and meeting space for Second Unitarian’s Open Arms Trans Social Group in the past.
Social Justice is the heart of our church, and every day, UUs show up. Please give generously to 2U’s Share the Plate offering to support Omaha For Us and our church. Mail checks to 2U at 3012 S. 119th Street, Omaha. Put “Share the Plate” in the memo line. OR try our online giving.
