Making a difference together – CIRA Summer Camp for Refugees

On August 6th, something truly special happened! Volunteers from First and Second Unitarian came together in the spirit of love and service to make a difference for refugee and immigrant children. In just 30 minutes – thanks to 22 amazing volunteers (including some grandchildren!) – we packed 100 lunches for kids attending their very first summer camp sponsored by CIRA (Center for Immigrant and Refugee Advancement).

But that’s not all! Together, our congregations also raised $650, which allowed us to provide backpacks and gift cards worth $450 to support immigrant and refugee children.

Monica Meier from CIRA & our Congregation, shared her heartfelt thanks, and reported “The kids had a blast!” It was because of your compassion, generosity, and willingness to show up for others that made this possible.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to each one of you who shared your time, energy, and caring spirit to welcome and support our immigrant neighbors.
