Did you know you can support Omaha Public Radio and Second Unitarian Church through a single donation? For many years now, by bundling church donations designated for KIOS, we have purchased weekly spots on NPR’s popular news program “All Things Considered,” stating our support for public radio, our name, and a brief description of our church!
We recently asked KIOS’s Michael Lyon how Congress’s cuts to public media have affected KIOS. Here’s an excerpt of Michael’s response:
As of October 1, 2025, Omaha Public Radio (KIOS 91.5 FM) lost approximately $150,000 in annual federal funding. Cuts like these jeopardize the local programs that uplift diverse voices, foster dialogue, preserve our cultural heritage, and strengthen the bonds of community.
Earlier this year, our listeners responded with remarkable generosity, helping to offset the immediate impact of these cuts. Yet the long-term challenge remains. Sustained public support is now more essential than ever to ensure that Omaha Public Radio can continue to serve as a trusted platform for local voices and community connection.
Thank you again for your support of KIOS. – Michael
To donate, checks should be payable to Second Unitarian. Write “KIOS” to designate your donation on the offering envelope or on your check memo line. You can also donate online at 2uomaha.org.
