After a two-year break, First and Second Unitarian Churches of Omaha are again teaming up to participate in Brush-Up Nebraska’s Paint-A-Thon! The two churches will partner with the Bemis Park Neighborhood Association under the leadership of Rob Warner.
Paint-A-Thon is a community partnership that recruits volunteers to paint the exteriors of homes for low income elderly and disabled homeowners. Paint-A-Thon organizes teams for the painting of the homes and provides the teams with a qualified homeowner.
Our assigned house is on North 41st Street just north of Pinkney St.
Alan Vovolka from First Unitarian is recruiting volunteers for the Paint-A-Thon this year. These are the three dates:
- Saturday, August 9, starting at 8:00 a.m. preparation day.We will be scraping, and priming the garage and the trim on the house.
- Friday, August 15, starting at 2:00 p.m. we will be removing storm windows, scraping, caulking and priming window frames.
- Saturday, August 16, starting at 8:00 a.m. is paint day.
Volunteers will be needed for each phase. Children between 12 and 16 are welcome if a parent remains on site or signs the Paint-A-Thon permission slip and designates a consenting adult to supervise their child.
Our house is one story tall.
