December Service Learning Project

In December, our congregation is continuing its giving tradition. We will provide gifts to 35 Elders at Pine Ridge Reservation through the Oyate Teca Project.

They are looking for similar items as the 100 Item Challenge we did in November, but include gifts seniors might enjoy:

• 35 hot cocoa mix packets
• 35 candy canes
• 35 packets of nuts
• 15 pairs warm men’s socks
• 20 pairs warm/ fuzzy women’s socks
• 35 cross word puzzles/Suduko/ etc (large print preferred)
• 35 Christmas stockings
• 35 tubes lip balm
• 35 bottles travel size lotion
• 35 decks of cards or small games (Uno, Rummy, Farkle)
• 15 pairs men’s gloves
• 20 pairs women’s gloves
• A $5 gift (tape measure, stationery, throw, pocket knife, multitool, coffee mug, pocket calendar, scarf or hat, knitting yarn/cross stitch/craft supplies, magnifying glass, reader glasses, flashlight)

Our box is in the foyer of the church, and we have a checklist where you can cross off what you bring. Please bring items by Sunday, December 14.

We will have our Service Learning Project day on December 14 and will make ornaments with Lakota sayings. Please join us in sending some holiday cheer to the Elders!

We also would like any holiday stockings (you know, the red kind) to send along with the items above. It’s part of their delivery tradition!

Thank you!
