Second Unitarian’s Share the Plate partner for the months of July and August is the League of Women Voters of Greater Omaha. LWVGO is a nonprofit, nonpartisan political organization that encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues and influences public policy through education and advocacy.
While the LWVGO does not endorse or support political candidates or political parties, it does take a stand on issues that arise in the political arena that affect everyone. The LWVGO’s largest focus is to educate the community on how government works and how we can all be involved in it. The league offers voter information on its website to make it as easy as possible to understand who is eligible to vote, and how people can register to vote. The league also compiles and distributes a voting guide that provides the community with unbiased information on candidates, as well as those candidates’ stances on issues.
Social Justice is the heart of our church, and every day, UUs show up. Please give generously to 2U’s Share the Plate offering to support LWVGO and our church. Mail checks to 2U at 3012 S. 119th Street, 68144. Put “Share the Plate” in the memo line.OR try our online giving by clicking here.
