Second Unitarian Supports Respect Nebraska Voters Campaign

Social Justice received Board permission to collect petition signatures at church for the Respect Nebraska Voters initiative campaign.

If this campaign is successful and the initiative gets on the November 2026 ballot, and passes, this constitutional amendment will change the number of state lawmakers required to undo or change laws voters have passed from two-thirds of the state legislature to a four-fifths supermajority. It also protects our freedom to vote on important issues facing our communities by strengthening protections for the ballot initiative process itself, preventing politicians from passing laws that restrict the people’s ability to bring initiatives.

Some of you already signed this petition last Sunday, and we will continue to have copies of the petition at church to sign through May. If you can’t attend church in person, reside in the Omaha area and would like to sign, please contact Clyde Anderson and we will have a volunteer make an appointment to visit you so you may sign the petition. Remember, you must be a registered voter in Nebraska to sign the petition.
