From a UUA communication: UU the Vote 2026: Ignite Solidarity, Reimagine Democracy is underway. This work is about more than elections. It is about growing the relationships, skills, and infrastructure that sustain democracy over time. Through voter engagement, community safety initiatives, and solidarity summits, we are building a movement powered by care, courage, and collective strength.
There are many 2U members already involved in great work around elections and voting rights and education – living out the UU principles of justice and equity! Indeed, Second Unitarian was named one of 50 Good Trouble Congregations by the UUA. You will be hearing more in the coming weeks about the 2026 UU the Vote initiative and ways we can be a Good Trouble Congregation again.
For now, there are some upcoming UU the Vote trainings in May. Again, from the UUA:
Learn how to run a phonebank, textbank, and/or use the REACH grassroots organizing app this year to contact voters as well as how to run MiniVAN for canvassing. After these trainings, congregations can host their own events which count toward the criteria needed to achieve Good Trouble Congregation status!
- Monday, May 18th 6p.m. ET / 3 p.m. PT: REACH app Training
- Thursday, May 21st 6 p.m. ET / 3 p.m. PT: Canvassing/MiniVAN
- Thursday, May 28th 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT: Textbank Training
This is just the beginning. If you want to learn more on your own, there is a UU the Vote Toolkit and other resources at UU the Vote 2026: Ignite Solidarity, Reimagine Democracy. 2026 may be a defining year for our 250-year-old democracy – Let’s get into a lot of Good Trouble!
