How are YOU making Good Trouble?

The late civil rights leader and U.S. congressman John Lewis would say, “Speak up, speak out, get in the way. Get in good trouble, necessary trouble, and help redeem the soul of America.” In the spirit of Lewis’s work, UU the Vote created the Good Trouble program to track the work of Unitarian Universalist congregations across the country to promote and protect our democratic process.

If you have been doing this kind of work, we want to know about it!!! You can talk to Pam Miller-Jenkins or social justice co-chairs, Cindy Ramsey and Greg Petrow, to let us know how you’re causing Good Trouble and we’ll submit your good trouble to UU the Vote.

There’s still time before the midterm elections if you’d like more information on how to take part. UU the Vote’s website has lots of resources, some of which have been posted in our e-newsletters and on our Discord social justice channel. Or, you can also come talk to a social justice committee member. We have church members who are canvassing, who have collected signatures for ballot petitions, who attended the information session with ACLU officials and who attended the OTOC candidate accountability session; additionally some of our church members have been and will be poll workers, poll observers and poll protectors. So there’s still lots of opportunity to be a Good Troublemaker. Let us know how we can help.
