Little Free Pantry

During this time of government shut down, there are people in our community who find themselves in a position of instability and uncertainty. Churches are being called upon to help fill in the gaps and Second Unitarian Church is answering the call. We’re converting our Little Free Library back into a Little Free Pantry. A big shou tout to the Religious Education kids for getting us started and stocking up the pantry last week!

This pantry is available to anyone – please feel free to take what you need or leave what you can. 

Can you contribute? With freezing temperatures on the horizon, we’re looking for shelf stable items that won’t degrade if they get too cold. Collected food items that will not do well with weather fluctuations will be donated to an indoor food bank.

Here are some suggested items:

  • Rice
  • Pasta
  • Cereal
  • Oatmeal packets
  • Dried beans, lentils, peas
  • Dehydrated soups, instant ramen, mac & cheese cups
  • Jerky (beef, turkey, vegan)
  • Dried fruit and fruit leather
  • Powdered milk
  • Powdered eggs
  • Salt, sugar, spices, bouillon cubes, flour
  • Crackers, pretzels, granola bars, trail mix, nuts
  • Popcorn kernels or microwave packs
  • Tea
  • Coffee
  • Powdered drink mixes (Kool aid, Gatorade)
  • Electrolyte packets or tablets
