Share the Plate for March and April: Black Votes Matter Institute of Community Engagement – Annual Civil Rights Tour

Every month Second Unitarian donates one half of our offering to a local non-profit organization. March and April’s Share the Plate recipient is the Black Votes Matter Institute of Community Engagement – Annual Civil Rights Tour.

The Black Votes Matter Institute of Community Engagement informs, educates, and inspires the next generation of leaders through a highly interactive and engaged BVM Bus Tour to Memphis, Jackson, Birmingham, Selma, Montgomery, Tuskegee, and Atlanta. Donations contribute to scholarships for youth to attend. While focused on creating the next generation of youth for sustained change, the BVM Institute also conducts year around voter education, registration, and Get Out the Vote initiatives while raising the quality of life for all with an emphasis on the economically disadvantaged, diverse, and multi-ethnic populations. Preston Love Jr is Founder & Executive Director of the Institute for Urban Development (4Urban.org), a trade name for the Black Votes Matter Institute of Community Engagement. Second Unitarian has supported the Black Votes Matter program for several years as exemplified by the banner on the north exterior wall of the church.
