One half of Second Unitarian’s offering received in October will go to GLSEN Omaha (Gay Lesbian Straight Education Network – Omaha Chapter).
GLSEN Omaha supports lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and ally students, educators, and parents, and they provide professional development for future and current educators.
Last year, they provided more than 30 hours of training to current and future educators and support to 17 Gay-Straight Alliances and more than 160 students. They co-hosted the first-ever statewide LGBTQ+ youth and young adult conference in Nebraska for students, educators and emerging leaders from across the state.
During the 2014-15 school year, GLSEN Omaha will offer the first ever Safe Space summit for educators and more programs and services to students and educators in rural Nebraska.
