Flower Ceremony with Roots

Ceremony, Ritual and Procession can be seen as incorporating some elements of Play, our Soul Matters monthly theme for June. Czech Unitarian minister, Rev. Norbert Capek, created a Flower Ceremony in 1923 which was celebrated annually at the congregation he served in Prague.

His wife, Rev. Maja Capek, first celebrated the Flower Ceremony in the United States in 1940.

At our 2U service on this morning, we will continue this almost-100-year-old tradition by learning more about it and carrying it out in a slightly different way in these pandemic times.
